Comparative

Comparison of visuals for the same property.

If you are still not convinced by the importance of visuals for the enhancement of your properties, I suggest you browse this comparison of photos taken by different people to enhance the same property.

4 ANNOUNCEMENTS COMPARISON

This first image clearly shows that it's not the work of a professional photographer. The volumes aren't highlighted, and the vertical lines are crooked. The listing contains very few photos of the interior of this property, even though it truly deserves a photographic analysis. There's no risk-taking in the lighting, and the photographer didn't see fit to include the exterior in the interior photos, which is a real shame because it would have greatly enhanced the property's appeal, especially with such a beautifully landscaped exterior. Let's move on to the second series:

3 ANNOUNCEMENTS COMPARISON

There the photographer clearly sensed the potential of the property... He tried to restore the volumes and integrate the exterior into his shots.
There is a problem with the verticals, which is a shame because the perspectives are not too badly rendered. There is a slight lack of balance between the brightness of the exterior and that of the interior. In the second photo we seem to see a flash, which should be avoided except in cases of force majeure (windowless room in a house without electricity, and even then we can manage without a flash). The red blind is reflected on the parquet floor, this could have been reduced. (source)

Let's move on to series 3:

2 ANNOUNCEMENTS COMPARISON

Same criticisms as for the second series except that the volumes are less well highlighted. The tight framing indicates the use of a lens whose focal length is not short enough. The shots do not do justice to the volumes. The brightly lit areas are “burned out”, we can no longer distinguish any detail. There is also a problem with the balance of lighting and temperature between the interior and exterior in two of the photos. The verticals are also not respected. (source)
Let's visit series number 4:

1 ANNOUNCEMENTS COMPARISON

In this series I think we are dealing with an amateur photographer using a “Nodal view” type solution, or it is a person who knows how to use HDR and who has a wide angle because
– the volumes are highlighted.
– the light management is excellent.
– the balance between interior and exterior is almost perfect.
On the other hand, the management of perspectives and verticals is just catastrophic. We really feel the wide-angle effect and this spoils the pleasure that we could experience when looking at these shots. (source)

And now the fifth series of photographs:

5 ANNOUNCEMENTS COMPARISON

In this last series the volumes are highlighted while avoiding any distortion due to the wide angle. The verticals are perfectly vertical and parallel, the perspectives are ideal and the framing is careful so that the important elements are all integrated into the composition.source)
This report, as you might expect, was produced by me.

Light management, framing, composition, finding the best angle, respecting perspectives, controlling distortions, balancing interior and exterior light... These are all parameters to take into account before taking photographs.

I hope that this comparison has helped you understand the benefits of hiring a real estate photography expert to showcase your property in the best possible way.
